A monumental sculpture measuring 7 x 4 meters, weighing a total of 1,280 kg, installed in Murano, Italy.

Alessandro Mandruzzato
Four generations of Master Glassmakers
For four generations, the Mandruzzato family has represented the excellence of glassmaking on the island of Murano, passing down knowledge, skills, and passion with dedication and respect for tradition.
Alessandro Mandruzzato was born in 1970. At just 15, he dropped out of school to pursue what would become his true calling: the extraordinary art of Murano glassmaking.
His daily contact with this fascinating material, fueled by a deep respect for family tradition, has transformed into a perfect combination of passion, research, and innovation. Traditional techniques are explored and reinterpreted to breathe new life into a material as fragile as it is timeless.
In 2000, Alessandro took over the family business, infusing his artistic production with a personal and contemporary vision. Driven by a strong propensity for technological innovation, he began designing custom machinery and developing new engraving and grinding techniques.
Stone grinders, diamond wheels, cork discs, and polishers become extensions of his creative mind. With these, Alessandro sculpts glass with precision and poetry, transforming transparent blocks into works of art that tell stories.
Each of his creations is profoundly autobiographical: they encapsulate personal emotions, reflections, and moments of life, forever engraved in the material.
His works have been exhibited in international museums and galleries in cities such as Venice, Milan, Paris, Moscow, Dubai, Beijing, New York, and London, establishing Mandruzzato as a name in the global art scene.
2005 – He created the public work installed in Piazza Casabianca in Jesolo.
2007 – He created ANGHÉLOS, the largest Murano glass angel in the world, measuring 7 meters wide and 4 meters tall.
2011 – His sculpture DIVA was exhibited at the prestigious Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, making him the first Italian artist of the new millennium to exhibit in this temple of art.
2011 – Represents Italy at the International Symposium of Art Glass, creating EMBRACE for the occasion, exhibited at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt.
2012 – With the patronage of the Council of Ministers, his work is recognized as Italian Excellence in the World: he receives the prestigious “Globo Tricolore” award
2012 – The name Alessandro Mandruzzato becomes an international registered trademark, to protect its production
2015 – The sculpture ARBOL DEL VIENTO (Wind ARBOL) was exhibited at the Murano Glass Museum, where it gained recognition as a symbol of art and innovation.
Today, Alessandro continues to collaborate with internationally renowned designers and artists, continuing the Murano tradition with an eye to the future. Each of his works is the result of a fusion of artisanal heritage and contemporary experimentation, a perfect balance between technique, material, and soul.
