Mandruzzato™ products are made entirely on the island of Murano, following a rigorous production process that combines tradition, technique, and contemporary art.
Each step represents an act of artisanal mastery, the fruit of over 100 years of family experience in crafting authentic Murano artistic glass.
Design – Where Every Detail Counts
Each piece is born from a moment of creativity and dialogue between the client and the master glassmakers.
During the design phase, every detail is precisely defined:
• Shape and proportions
• Colors and transparencies
• Any presence of precious metals within the glass
• Textures and final finishes
This phase represents the meeting point between artistic vision and the client’s desire, giving life to exclusive and personalized designs, perfect in every nuance.
Creation of Murano Artistic Glass
After the design phase, the Mandruzzato family begins the glassmaking process.
A long and meticulous process that can last from 4 to 8 consecutive days, depending on the complexity of the work.
The raw materials are fused at over 1,600°C with minerals to obtain the colors. The glass is blown and left to rest in special furnaces called muffles. The piece is slowly cooled for about 72 hours, gradually returning to room temperature.
This controlled cooling is essential to ensure the structural stability and aesthetic purity of the glass.
Glass Grinding – A Timeless Art
Glass grinding is an iconic technique of the Mandruzzato family, perfected over nearly a century.
It is a complex 12-step process that combines cold working and precision hand tools.
The main phases include:
• Cutting with a diamond circular saw
• Leveling
• Grinding with diamond wheels
• Finishing the cutting edges with a belt
• Polishing with cork wheels and pumice powder
Each step is repeated several times until perfect shapes and harmonious proportions are achieved.
Grinding not only shapes the glass but also engraves it, creating light and texture effects that make each piece unique and alive.
