Small Amphora Vase – 1950s Gardens Collection
Form, light, and the legacy of Murano glass

The Small Amphora Vase is an artistic creation in Murano glass designed by Beniamino Mandruzzato, master glassmaker and founder of the historic family glassworks. Part of the Giardini Collection, established in the 1950s, this vase reinterprets the classic amphora shape in a more compact form, while retaining its elegance and expressive power.

Entirely handcrafted using traditional Murano glass techniques—from furnace blowing to cold grinding with diamond wheels—each piece is unique. The harmonious and proportioned form highlights the purity of the glass and enhances its natural brilliance.

The sides feature decorative engraving that evokes the rippling surface of water. The engravings create vibrant plays of light that dance along the curves of the vase, transforming the material into a luminous and dynamic surface.

These reflections evoke the gibigiane, the dancing glimmers of light on the waters of the Venetian lagoon—a natural phenomenon that deeply fascinated Beniamino Mandruzzato and became a source of inspiration for many of his creations.

The design is also inspired by the oarlocks of gondolas, functional elements carved from wood with extraordinary elegance. From these traditional Venetian forms, the master drew new sculptural inspiration, transforming them into soft, contemporary volumes.
