Small Oliva Vase – 1950s Giardini Collection (H 15 cm)
The natural elegance of Murano glass
The small Oliva vase is a refined example of Venetian artistic craftsmanship, designed by Beniamino Mandruzzato, founder of the historic Mandruzzato glassworks. It is part of the Giardini Collection, created in the 1950s and inspired by the fluid forms of nature and the water that flows through Venice.
This round, flattened vase is handmade using authentic Murano glassworking techniques: the glass is blown in a furnace and then meticulously worked in the grinding workshop, using diamond-tipped wheels to shape and decorate the surface.
The decoration, engraved on the outer sides, evokes the rippling motion of water, with reflections that shift in the light, creating the characteristic gibigiane—playful patterns of light that dance across the surfaces. The effect is organic, fluid, and natural: a true celebration of light and glass.
